StrideSync

Why?

StrideSync (officially StrideSync Music) was created to address a problem I faced since the dawn of the iPhone and Apple Music (a.k.a. iTunes),  I love taking power walks around my lovely Colorado neighborhood while listening to music.  I especially like upbeat tunes that have a tempo around 115 Beats-Per-Minute (BPM), which matches a brisk walk.  Those songs tend to motivate and energize my workout since I try to walk at the song tempo.

But, when I change my pace (when going downhill or uphill, or just getting tired), the song playing no longer matches my cadence, therefore I have to find another song.  Why couldn't someone create an app that played songs based on my stride?

The concept is simple: your iPhone (and optional Apple Watch) detects your cadence, and plays songs to match.  The answer is StrideSync.

What?

StrideSync is an iPhone app, with a companion Apple Watch app included.  It detects your stride cadence (in steps per minute), and automatically plays songs within your adjustable BPM tolerance.

You can choose any playlist on your phone (and even ALL songs).  BPM tolerance is adjustable within plus or minus 10 beats.  Song shuffle is supported, along with manual skip, pause, and rewind.  Full control is available from the iPhone and Apple Watch.  The app works indoors (treadmill, rowing machine) and outdoors.  It also supports a bluetooth cadence sensor that you can attach to a stationary bike.

A workout chart is provided that tracks your pace, songs played, and BPM tolerance.  The app also gives you workout metrics after completion.  Using with an Apple Watch (optional), also provides heart rate and calorie metrics.
