Overview

Morse ICR Trainer ("Morse ICR Trainer," "the App," "we," "us," or "our") is a free Morse Code training application developed by Cody Cabana Productions, LLC.

Morse ICR Trainer is designed to help users develop instant character recognition (ICR) of Morse Code through auditory training exercises.

Morse ICR Trainer is available on iOS and Android. Most of what's described in this policy applies to both platforms; where a feature is only available on one, this policy says so explicitly — most notably in the Microphone and speech recognition section below.

We respect your privacy. Morse ICR Trainer is designed to keep your training data and speech-recognition activity on your device and does not require an account.

Information Morse ICR Trainer accesses

Microphone and speech recognition

This feature is currently available on iOS only. Android versions of Morse ICR Trainer do not request microphone or speech-recognition permissions and do not include this feature at all.

On iOS, Morse ICR Trainer uses your device's microphone and Apple's Speech Recognition framework when you participate in exercises that ask you to say a Morse character aloud.

The purpose is to determine whether you have spoken the expected character before the computer announces its answer.

Your spoken responses are used for the training exercise and are not collected by Morse ICR Trainer, stored by Morse ICR Trainer, or transmitted by Morse ICR Trainer to our servers.

Speech-recognition processing is performed on-device by Apple's Speech framework, using its on-device recognition mode. That processing is governed by Apple's own privacy practices.

You can deny microphone or speech-recognition permission. However, speech recognition will not function without the necessary permission.

Training history and notes

Morse ICR Trainer can maintain a local training history, including information such as:

  • Training date and time
  • Character set used
  • Problem characters
  • Training duration
  • Cumulative training time
  • Session notes or comments

This information is stored locally on your device for use by the App.

Morse ICR Trainer does not transmit your training history or notes to us.

App settings

Morse ICR may store application settings and preferences locally on your device so that your selected training configuration and timer settings can be retained between sessions.

These settings are not transmitted to us.

Information Morse ICR Trainer does not collect

Morse ICR Trainer does not require you to provide:

  • Your name
  • Email address
  • Telephone number
  • Account credentials
  • Location
  • Contacts
  • Photos
  • Health information
  • Advertising identifiers for advertising purposes

Morse ICR Trainer does not contain advertising.

Morse ICR Trainer does not sell, rent, or trade personal information.

Data sharing

Morse ICR Trainer does not operate a server or database that receives your training information, spoken responses, or personal information.

We do not sell or share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers.

The App may rely on operating-system services — such as Apple's on-device speech-recognition service on iOS, and each platform's own text-to-speech capabilities on iOS and Android — to provide functionality requested by you. Those platform services may process information according to their own privacy policies.

Data retention and deletion

Training history, notes, settings, and other locally stored App data remain on your device until you delete them through functionality provided by Morse ICR Trainer or remove the App from your device.

Morse ICR Trainer does not maintain a separate copy of this information on our servers.

Because Morse ICR Trainer does not maintain user accounts or a remote database of user information, there is no account that you need to request us to delete.

If you remove Morse ICR Trainer from your device, information stored solely by the App will generally be removed according to the operating system's app-data management behavior.

Security

Morse ICR Trainer is designed so that training information remains on the user's device rather than being transmitted to our servers.

As with any software, no method of electronic storage or processing can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You should use the security features provided by your device, including a device passcode and current operating-system updates.

Children's privacy

Morse ICR Trainer is not specifically directed toward children.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because Morse ICR Trainer does not require an account and does not transmit training information to our servers, the App is designed to minimize the collection of personal information.

Third-party services

Morse ICR Trainer uses operating-system and third-party software components to provide functions such as audio playback, text-to-speech, and speech recognition (iOS only).

These components may process information as necessary to provide their respective functions. Their handling of information is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

Morse ICR does not use third-party advertising or analytics services to build profiles of users.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time if the App's functionality or data practices change.

When we make changes, we will update the effective date shown at the top of this policy. If a change materially affects how Morse ICR Trainer handles user information, we will make reasonable efforts to provide appropriate notice.
